Monday -
Today we wrote our last in-class prompt. It was an argument prompt.
Homework:
Ouline for lines paper and bring vocab. book tomorrow.
Tuesday –
We had time to finish Chapter 12 Vocab and conference about your papers.
Homework over break:
Work on paper rough draft due Tuesday the 1st.

Monday
Today we finished either the trial worksheet or the Prejudice/Courage worksheet and watched part of the movie in class.
Homework: 5 and 7: 21 and 22, 8: 20-22.
Tuesday
Today we finished the other worksheet and watched part of the movie in class.
Homework: 5 and 7: 23 and 24, 8: none.

Monday -
Discuss Chapter 9 and 10, time to read.
HW: 5 and 7 – Chpts. 11 and 12 8 – Chapts. 10-13
Tuesday – We worked on a prejudice worksheet and found pages in the book that related to the theme.
Hw: 5 and 7 – Chpts. 13 and 14 8 – None
Wednesday – We worked on a courage worksheet, grammar, and discussed the homework.
HW: 5 and 7 – Chpts. 15 and 16 8- 14-16
Thursday – We Summarized the homework chapters and began our trial worksheet and reading in class.
HW: 5 and 7 – Chpts. 17 and 18 8 – 17-19
Friday – We took a quiz, went over it and continued working on the trial worksheet.
HW: 5 and 7 -Chpts. 19 and 20 8 – None

We discussed MLK’s “Letter from Birmingham Jail.”
Tuedsay –
We continued our discussion and I assigned the Lines of Argument paper. A very rough outline is due Tuesday the 24th.

We studied for the Tone Word Test

We read “Why Don’t We Complain” and went over vocabulary.

Monday – We discussed your pre-reading worksheets and did a bit more debating.
HW: Periods 5 and 7, Read Chapters 1 and 2. Period 8, Read Chapters 1-3.
Tuesday – We discussed the important characters of the book so far.
HW: Periods 5 and 7, Read Chapters 3 and 4. Period 8, None.
Wednesday –
Periods 5 and 7 – We discussed Chapters 3 and 4 using study questions.
Period 8 – We discussed more about Chapters 1-3 and spent time doing more debating.
HW: periods 5 and 7, Read Chapters 5 and 6. Period 8, Read Chapters 4-6
Thursday –
All periods – We wrote a journal about a neighbor we remember.
Periods 5 and 7 – We discussed some important points from Chapters 5 and 6 and then added a bit more about Boo to our character sheet.
Period 8 – In groups, you created a summary of your assigned chapter and found three quotations from the chapter that you felt were important. We discussed these chapters based on your work.
HW: 5 and 7 – Chapters 7 and 8
8 – Chapters 7-9
All Periods – there is a quiz tomorrow!!!!!
Friday – We will take our quiz and then grade them together as a class.

Monday – We wrote a rhetorical analysis prompt today.
Tuesday – We discussed the Declaration of Independence and did a few more tone words.
HW: Read pg. 400 in 50 Essays, “Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions.”
Wednesday – We discussed the other declaration and finished the tone words. We also talked a bit about lines of argument.
HW: Test 1 and Crossword for EC, Tests 2 and 3 required in vocab. book.
Thursday – We reviewed for the Vocabulary test tomorrow.
Friday – We took the vocab. test.
HW: Read pg. 220, “letter from Birmingham Jail” and pick out the 3 most significant paragraphs. Also, do first 10 of Chapter 11 vocab.

Monday – Today you worked on peer editing your papers. you each wrote a positive, a question and a suggestion for one person’s paper.
Your final draft is due Friday. Bring vocabulary for tomorrow.
Tuesday – Today I gave more tone definitions and we worked on a worksheet about levels of tone.
Wednesday or Thursday – We were in the computer lab.
Wednesday or Thrusday – We continued working on tone and I gave more words.
HW: Chapter 10 Vocabulary
Friday – We continued working on tone and talked about tone shifts.
HW: for Tuesday, read the Declaration of Independence on pg. 211 in your 50 Essays. For Thursday, do vocab. review.

Today you finished the “L” in the KWL worksheet and created a calendar and plan for your work this week. You are working this entire week on the group project. The projects are due on Tuesday, no exceptions. We will begin our presentations then.

Today we began going over the quarter exam. We are going to continue with this tomorrow.
Tuesday
We discussed tone today and I explained that the starred words will be on the Tone Word Test which is Wednesday, November 18th.
Wednesday
Today we worked on a brainstorm for your papers.
